A quiet little spot at the southern end of Phuket, Nai Harn is one of the island's most beautiful locations and most popular places with in-the-know locals. This quiet and tranquil place has only a few hotels including the Le Royal Phuket Yacht Club and is a favourite anchorage for boats during the high season.

Great for swimming from November to April, however care should be take in the low season (May-October) when there can be strong undertows on occasion. The local restaurants just above the beach make a great place to relax with a sundowner.

Just north of Nai Harn, along the coast, is Nui Beach, small, secluded and difficult to access. Further along is Ya Nui, a sandy cove that attracts snorkelers and divers. Another out-of-the way spot nearby is the tiny beach of Ao Sane, a great spot for snorkeling, reached by taking the dirt road that starts at Le Royal Meridien's car park.

A great place to have a snack and watch the sunset is Promthep Cape, a popular viewpoint only a few minutes drive from Nai Harn.

The Beach (our guide for all you beach lovers)

Nai Harn Beach is one of the contenders for Phuket's most beautiful beach. It has a large freshwater behind it that flows into the sea at the southern end and some good snorkeling at the northern end. It's not a place to hire a jet ski or expect a lot of action. Just yachts bobbing in the bay, vendors selling ice cream and drinks and a fine sandy beach.

Everything you need is within easy reach for a fun day on the beach.

Nai Harn Beach Nightlife

In keeping with everything else in Nai Harn quiet is the order of the day however there are a few notable places to drink and be merry. There's no main nightlife area or strip, the points of interest are spread out all over.

It's even possible to find somewhere to go late, very late (or is that early?) with bars becoming busy at some unexpected times. Just when you think the night's drawing to a close the bar gets busier and everyone wants to party.

Nai Harn Beach Restaurants, Food & Dining

Away from the beach, Nai Harn village has an unusually large choice of small restaurants considering it's a small place, almost too many. They're everywhere you look dotted along the roads almost at a regular distance.

Tourists will find more than enough eateries to ensure that dining doesn't become a chore, on the contrary you'll wish you had more time to sample every last place. Amongst the choices you'll find excellent steak, ribs, French cuisine, cheap Thai food and even Mexican food amongst the choices.

Shopping in Nai Harn

Shopping in Nai Harn is pretty much nonexistent.

You'll be able to pickup some fruit and vegetables easily enough and a 7-Eleven provides eggs milk and bread opposite Mimi's. There's a pharmacy next door to the hammock shop.

Tourist items such as jewellery, silks, wood carvings, beachwear etc can be found up at Promthep Cape.
