Ban Raya is a resort on the Island of Racha Yai which is situated 12 nm south of Phuket Island on the south west coast of Thailand.

Racha Yai is a beautiful unspoiled and unsophisticated Island. The ideal place to get away from it. There are no roads and hence no traffic. It is a small island so walking is easy and enjoyable.

Ban Raya is an all year resort as the environment in the Green season from May to October can be equally enjoyable.

The vegetation is at its best and while it rains at times it is refreshing and cool with long periods of sunshine.

Ban Raya is sheltered from the South West monsoon which affects the exposed west coast of the island.

The high season from November to April is consistently dry and sunny with a little rain to freshen up the environment. While the seasons affect the beaches the choice on Racha all within easy walking distance from Ban Raya ensures that you can always find a place to swim and relax at all times of the year.

Transport

Getting to Racha is part of the experience and you can choose from a number of alternatives.

Fast speed boats whisk you there in about 20 mins but a more leisurely way is by traditional longtail which takes about 1-2 hours. Daily speed boat service is available in the high season or you can hire your own speed boat. Longtails are available at any time but may be dependent on the weather particularly in the Green season.

Most daily services depart from Phuket in the morning and return late afternoon. In order to meet flight schedules etc. it may be necessary to spend a night in Phuket.

This can be arranged by the resort. Many international guests like to combine their holiday with a few days in Phuket where they can indulge in the nightlife and shopping.
