Chalong Bay Restaurants

Where to Eat in Chalong

Chalong is a favorite destination for yachtsman to drop their anchors. Within immediate walking distance of the pier, newcomers will see various types of eating venues, big and small, old and new.

The cuisine is not limited to only Thai and seafood but it covers good range of international tastes. Such places include Kan Eang@Pier, Tasanee Seafood, Captain Hook, The Lighthouse and the Anchor Bar.

Chalong Centre

Kan Eang@Pier

Chalong boasts two Kan Eangs, and both are on choice seafront land, both serve fresh seafood, and both are large affairs. Kan Eang@Pier (KEP), however, has had a major overhaul and oozes class, tasteful design and dining comfort. Oh, by the way, kan eang roughly translates as 'easy going'.

Tasanee Seafood

A well-known family run Thai restaurant, Tasanee has been serving customers in Chalong Bay for more than three decades. Its stunning location with great views of the bay helps to balance the lack of décor inside the restaurant and again, its simple but clean setup helps keep prices down. Fresh ingredients make Tasanee’s dishes stand out, especially geng som (spicy yellow seafood curry) and nam prik goong seab (shrimp chilly dip). These two are locals’ favourites. For visitors who don’t fancy too spicy food, there is pla sam rod (sweet and sour fish) on the menu, tom kha seafood (seafood in coconut milk soup) and tod man goong (deep-fried shrimp cake). Many seafood items here are a lot cheaper than those sold in other beachfront venues such as Patong and there’s plenty of free parking space at the pier’s public car park. Talk about convenience!
Style: Thai & seafood
Open: Daily from 09:00 – 22:00
Location: To the left of Chalong Pier
Tel: +66 (0) 76-381214

This seafront restaurant with a decorative lighthouse on its roof is – amazingly enough – called The Lighthouse and is a popular meeting point for cruising yachties and locals. The Lighthouse serves European and Thai food in a cozy ambience. Many expats make this restaurant their daily destination for a hearty breakfast. Palai Seafood

If you had to choose just one thing that Phuket is famous for, many people would opt for its sensationally fresh seafood. Phuket’s surrounding waters teem with the sort of marine life that would leave Jacques Cousteau dancing the calypso and wise visitors make sure that they benefit from this abundance. As a result there are many seafood restaurants on the island yet only a few can boast a great view in an easy-to-find location. But Palai Seafood can. Read Palai Seafood review...

Mor Mudong

Mor Mudong is next to Klong Mudong, right in among the mangroves. Many of the dishes are typical fiery Phuket food, with no holds barred, but there are milder dishes on the menu. Style: Thai and seafood

Prantalay Seafood

Soi Palai is a great address for good seafood and laid-back eating. There must be at least close to 10 seafront venues to choose from. Try to be there for sunset; somehow the meal is just much more delicious with it. Note: not all Thai foods are spicy, so take your time when going through the extensive menu. Affordable.
