The Beach (our
guide for all you beach lovers)
Spending time on Nai Yang beach, you wouldn't believe that the
'busy tourist island of Phuket' exists at all. Reasonably quiet
all year round, the busiest time is in December and January. This
beach is probably one of the best beaches in Phuket for a lazy and
quiet day, with all the food, drinks, shade and breeze you can dream
of.
Occasionally turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in the sand
at night. Every April, one of the Songkran
(Water Festival) activities is to release baby turtles into the
sea. (Read more...)
Nai Yang Beach Nightlife & Dining
'Low key' is the phrase that comes to mind when thinking of Nai
Yang nightlife. There's a string of informal restaurants and bars
set into the sand in the middle part of the beach. When was the
last time you had a lazy barefoot lunch on the sand of a tropical
beach? These establishments offer Thai, seafood and Western dishes
under the sun or the stars. Even the obligatory local Reggae Bar
is modest in size and character: 'Broken English spoken here perfect
100%'. Put simply, if you hanker for seafood pizza and a cold beer in
a relaxed seaside atmosphere, look no further. For a more trendy
dinner visit the 'Rivet Grill' at Indigo Pearl.
Shopping in Nai Yang
There are quite a few souvenir shops (and shacks) all along the
beach road.
The convenience store is the 'we sell most things you need but
if we haven't got it then you probably won't find it in Nai Yang'
shop. Among other items you'll find drinks, snacks, ice creams,
newspapers, sun cream, plasters and postcards on the shelves. Prices
tend to be a little high which is no surprise considering the lack
of competition. There is also an ATM. Nai Yang also has two diving shops and four tailors that can cut
you a suit in 24 hours! |
