Everything You Need to Know About Nai Yang

Nai Yang Beach

Nai Yang is just a five-minute drive south of the airport and is very popular with Thai locals. Here you'll find what beach life is all about. Fringed with casuarina trees providing picnic areas for locals, it's a shady spot for souvenir and food vendors.

Laid back to the extreme, most people who stay here find absolute relaxation. Parts of the of the beach are inside Sirinath National Park which also includes the reef at the north end of the beach.

The Beach (our guide for beach lovers)

Spending time on Nai Yang beach, you wouldn't believe that the 'busy tourist island of Phuket' exists at all. Reasonably quiet all year round, the busiest time is in December and January. This beach is probably one of the best beaches in Phuket for a lazy and quiet day, with all the food, drinks, shade and breeze you can dream of. Every April, one of the Songkran (Water Festival) activities is to release baby turtles into the sea. (Read more...)

Sirinath (sometimes known as Sirinat) National Park covers an area of 90 square kilometres, from west of Phuket International Airport all the way to the island's northern tip. The park encompasses Nai Yang, Nai Thon and Mai Khao beaches.

Nai Yang Beach Activities

Nai Yang Beach is a pretty quiet place. Apart from a few surf/kiteboard shops, along with an assortment of bars and restaurants along the front, not a lot goes on there. It’s light years away from noisy Patong Beach and more of a place to take a walk through the Sirinath National Park or to work on your tan. (Read more...)

Nai Yang Beach Restaurants & Nightlife

'Low key' is the phrase that comes to mind when thinking of Nai Yang nightlife. There's a string of informal restaurants and bars set into the sand in the middle part of the beach. When was the last time you had a lazy barefoot lunch on the sand of a tropical beach? These establishments offer Thai, seafood and Western dishes under the sun or the stars. Even the obligatory local Reggae Bar is modest in size and character: 'Broken English spoken here perfect 100%'.

Nai Yang Shopping

There are quite a few souvenir shops (and shacks) all along the beach road. The convenience store is the 'we sell most things you need but if we haven't got it then you probably won't find it in Nai Yang' shop. Among other items you'll find drinks, snacks, ice creams, newspapers, sun cream, plasters and postcards on the shelves. Prices tend to be a little high which is no surprise considering the lack of competition.
