Where to Stay in Kata Beach
Editor's Guide to Recommended Hotels in Kata Beach
Kata Beach is beautiful. With nodding palms, cooling breezes, a crescent of white sand and an offshore island, it has all the ingredients of an idyllic tropical retreat.
Except for a few beachside resorts, most of Kata’s accommodation lies away from the sea and some resorts compensate by offering sea views from the surrounding hillsides. With a much quieter nightlife scene than Patong, Kata is suited to families and couples.
Discover our editor’s choice of recommended hotels and resorts in and near Kata Beach. They have been selected according to the excellence of their location, facilities, rates and service, as well as for the positive feeling they gave us while we visited them.
Hotels on the Beach
The south end of Kata beach is one of the few places in Phuket where hotels have direct beach access (no road between the hotel and the beach).
The whole of the middle part of the beach is taken by Club Med's low key landscaped grounds.
The north end is quite deserted apart from a couple of resorts located up the hill, set back from the beach.
On the hillside above the northern end of Kata Beach with a path leading directly down to the beach, Aspasia is a strikingly different resort and serviced apartments with hints of Mayan design throughout. Original paintings and antiques are displayed in the spa, restaurant and lobby, complementing the style of decor. Rooms and Suites are extremely spacious (65sqm – 210sqm) and face the sea and foliage of the hillside, the ambience is peaceful and friendly. Certain rooms feature a Jacuzzi. Guests can choose their personalised packages at the Aspasia Spa and enjoying sundowners by the pool at sunset is a wonderful occasion. Read More...
