Where to Stay in Phuket Town

Editor's Guide to Recommended Hotels in Phuket City

Phuket Town has many attractive and historical streets in its Old Town that certainly merit a visit for their distinctive Sino-Portuguese colonial-style shops and houses. The colourful streets proudly display the equally colourful history of the island, with many fascinating shrines, museums, shops and restaurants squirrelled away in hidden little courtyards, nooks and crannies.

The nightlife here is best for those seeking the local experience, with a number of music cafés and local clubs to choose from. Just outside town you’ll find three large shopping centres, the largest being Central Festival Phuket, with several floors of retail, restaurants and a multi-screen SFX Coliseum Cinema. Hotel-wise, most of those in the town itself are relatively small guesthouses while a number of excellent resorts can be found on the outskirts, taking full advantage of nearby beautiful beaches.

What is 'Editor's Pick':

Editor’s Picks are the hotels we personally reviewed and liked the most, ones we recommend to our friends and family when they come to Phuket and are looking for the best places to stay according to their budget or location preferences.

Best Mid Range Hotels in Phuket Town

For people want a full set of facilities but don’t expect perfection at every turn, these mid-range hotels are for you. Sure, you get a nice pool, room service, concierge, but the price is kept lower in different ways – for example, reduced selections at breakfast or slightly smaller guestrooms. The competition in Phuket is so fierce that prices get reduced on five-star hotels pushing them into mid-range territory. But make no mistake, these are excellent hotels!
