Phuket Beach Resort won the prestigious Thailand Tourism Award 2006 – Outstanding
Performance (Resort with more than 80 rooms, Southern Region)
The award
was presented by H.E. Sakthip Krailerk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of
Tourism and Sport on September 27, 2006 to Mr.Sombat Atiset, CEO of Katathani. The
Thailand Tourism Award is Thailand's 'Hallmark of Excellence' – a symbol
of assurance in the outstanding quality and reliability of tourism products and
services offered by a particular organization or operator. The distinguished
awards recognize the finest achievements and outstanding contributions to Thai
tourism and represent the country's highest honors conferred for innovation and
creativity in the field of sustainable tourism, conservation and environmental
protection efforts. The Thailand Tourism Awards were first introduced by
the Tourism Authority of Thailand in 1996 with the recognition and endorsement
