Outrigger to manage West Sands Resort
Hawaii-based Outrigger Enterprises Group has been contracted to
manage the 400-room luxury hotel that is to be built as part of
the West Sands development on Mai Khao Beach, near Phuket International
Airport. The West Sands Outrigger Resort, as the hotel will be known,
will be built as part of Phase 2 of the development, and is expected
to open by the end of 2009.
This is Outriggers first foray into Thailand, but the company
already manages 24 hotels and resorts in the Hawaiian Islands and
one each in Guam, Fiji, Bali and Australia. The company is also
looking at further projects in Thailand and Bali, as well as others
in Vietnam and on Hainan Island in China.
Amenities at West Sands will include a water park, a beach club,
a fitness center, tennis courts, a holistic fusion spa and a selection
of retail shops and restaurants.
Although not yet complete, West Sands received the 2007 Lighthouse
Club Green Development Award for its approach to environmental preservation.
