Many foreigners know something about Thai food from going to
Thai restaurants in their home countries. Others have never
tried it but have heard of its reputation for gorgeous if mouth-searing
tastes - and plan to give it a try while in Phuket.

Sweaty bodies bump against each other in thumping clubs. Somebody
in an open-air bar turns the conversation to politics, and the
exchange gets heated. Irish pubs serve Guinness by the pint
and crank out live tunes, fiddle and all.

We at Phuket.com have never grown blasé about the tropical
beauty of this island. We discover something new about Phuket
every single day and this is what keeps us here. Its
such a blessing to be able to live and work here and we love
to share it with you.
But enough from us: its
time to hear what the islands visitors say about Phuket.
We went to talk to the tourists in the streets and asked them:
What are the things you like most about Phuket?
Here are the answers.

Banthai Beach Resort and Spa has secured one of the best locations
in the heart of lively Patong. With Starbucks, McDonalds, Warner Bros
and Haagen Daas right on its doorstep, and located just off the beach
road, Banthai is perfect for tourists wanting a close-up look at Phukets
most lively tourist town.

First impressions are so important. The towering lobby at Novotel
Phuket Resort looks regal and is blessed with a cooling sea breeze.
Its the perfect place to sit and read a newspaper while drinking
a refreshing cup of coffee. The roof is supported by clever white
palm tree-shaped pillars and the whole feeling is one of opulent luxury.
The elegantly silk-clad staff complements this atmosphere perfectly.

Its your first time to Phuket.
Youre confused. Youve got more tour brochures in your
hotel room than you know what to do with and time is running out.
What to do? Where to go? What to see? Obviously, youre going
to have to plan your itinerary around a time frame, so here are four
options a three-day, five-day and a seven-day stay and longer.

Deciding what kind of activities
we want to do when we decide on a trip to an exotic tropical island
like Phuket is one thing, but we also must consider our preconceptions
of the destination as well. Its human nature to compare places
we are visiting to places weve visited in the past, but this
can be a bit of a problem if expectations are different from reality.
Thats why its important to do your research; and reading
an article such as this means you are indeed doing your research.

Its not something youll
see everyday in Birmingham or Oslo or Bonn: you walk past a small
shop on a main street and there, inside, is a row of comfortable La-Z-Boy-type
chairs with footstools, each occupied by a tourist with trousers rolled
up to the knee. At their feet kneel Thai women, kneading those overworked
extremities.

This month its seafood all the way. We go to Kan
Eang@Pier, a favourite eatery on Phukets east coast that
has recently been given a truly noteworthy makeover. The fabulous
views are still there but the restaurants totally changed. Tamachart
Restaurant is in Phuket City and is one of the quirkiest, strange,
guffaw-inducing places to eat in Thailand. Find out more about these
memorable restaurants inside. Bon appetit! Read

Phukets hotel scene is all abuzz at the moment. Everyone is
talking about the big names coming to town. It seems that nothing
not even a tsunami can stop Phuket from forging ahead.
With all this development youd be forgiven for thinking that
the island has lost its beauty but nothing could be further than the
truth. Phuket still has its beautiful white, sandy, palm-lined beaches,
its lush tropical hillsides and its pristine sunny days.
