All those beautiful postcards dont lie. Phuket and gorgeous
white beaches are synonymous. Thats why this months issue
of Phuket.Com magazine concentrates on the islands shores.
To carry on with our beach scene theme we pick two hotels located
on beautiful strands The Chedi and the Impiana Phuket Cabana.
We also review Sala Bua and Da Ali, two restaurants right
on the beach and one where you can get sand between your toes as you
eat.
For a bit of action, Sam Wilkinson takes us snorkelling at Coral
island and then goes island-hopping with Coral Seekers. We also have a special guide to the top five beaches on the island as well as the best five secret beaches
for you to discover. And if youve had enough of the sand, let
us introduce you to the fascinating world of the mangrove
forest.
In October, the two big events on
the island are the Vegetarian Festival and the Phuket
Film Festival. If you are here then, be sure not to miss them.
The fun continues in November, with Phuket Carnival that ushers in
the annual tourist high season. Enjoy!

We don't know what it is exactly, but in general it seems that
people who live or work by the beach seem to have such a cool
outlook on life.
They are friendly, quite open and very easy to talk to. Most
of all, their stories can be very interesting.
Phuket.com went to Patong beach and it didnt take us much
time to find four personalities to talk to.

Impiana Phuket Cabana Resort and Spa
is one of the leaders in the Phuket hospitality league. Impiana
was one of the first high-level hotels on the island yet youd
never guess it as the resort has a just built freshness
to it. The only resort in Patong actually on the beach, Impiana
has had a running start on its competitors right from the word go.

Its amazing how hot it can get
at 09:00 in the morning. Thankfully, at Chalong Pier theres
plenty of shade and benches on which to sit with a cool drink. There
are a lot of people here and their faces in spite of their
wildly differing nationalities show just three basic emotions.
Theres anticipation on foreigners faces, determination
on the tour guides faces and pure bewilderment on childrens
faces. Read more... |

Images of mangrove forests rarely
appear in material advertising the delights of Phuket. The short
trees grow in mud along the shore, lack majesty, and dont
have flowers worth talking about. But they are a crucial part of
Phukets tropical and coastal ecology.

This month, following our beach theme,
Sam Wilkinson dons his sunglasses and sun cream and takes his bucket
and spade to Ristorante Da Ali on lovely Laem Singh Beach. What did he see in the seafood? Did
he get crabby over the fish? Was he as red as a lobster in the sun?
Find out inside. Our very own gastronaut also went to sample the
fine dining at Sala Bua, in
Impiana Cabana right by the sand of Patong Beach where he sampled
the renowned cuisine of award-winning chef Ronnie Macuja. Read

Every country has its idiosyncrasies.
What is unusual to a visitor can be quite normal to a local and
vice versa. Thailand is no exception and has its fair share of quirks
and unusual sides. Here are our Top Ten Thai out-of-the-ordinary

Nara Suttichanond, Executive Chef
of the Holiday Inn Phuket Resort, took a break from his work running
the hotels kitchens to show us how to make Khao Pad Talay
with style. Kao Pad Thai for fried rice
is a dish you can find all over Thailand, and which anyone can cook,
but an artist such as Chef Nara can make it look and taste extra-special.
