Dear Reader,
This month we bring you hip and trendy Phuket as we seek out the urbane
and sophisticated side of island life. We start out with two resorts
with outstandingly fine designs and stunning service Trisara
and Twin Palms and take
a look at the famous trendsetters now setting the pace in Phuket,
including French design guru Philippe Starck.
Then we experience superb dining with top TV chef Keith Floyd at Floyd's
Brasserie in Patong and at the Rum Jungle
Café in Nai Harn. In between, don't miss out on a bit of
jungle tough with a Safari tour,
or romance with a sunset cruise.
Theres a lot going on here in Phuket. You wouldn't want to miss
anything, so we bring it all to you in our monthly Coming
Events section. Ladies, theres no reason to look anything
less than your spectacular best while on holiday, so follow us and
check out some Phuket South Sea pearls.
Finally, if youre worn out by all this trendsetting, weve
got three of the most relaxing, most romantic spa
treatments on the island for you to try. Don't you just love life!

The 2000 Leonardo DiCaprio movie
The Beach may not have broken box office records but it did
help Phuket and the surrounding area break previous tourism
records as travellers flocked to the Andaman coast to swim
in the same green waters and frolic on the same white sand
as Leo. Read more...

In recent years Phuket has been
promoting itself as a health destination, the idea
being that people can come to the island for a holiday and medical

Trisara (pronounced tree-sara)
perfectly complements the beauty of the Andaman Sea and vice
versa. This spectacular, all-villa resort, built into the
contours of a verdant private bay just south of Nai Thon Beach
in the northern part of Phuket is not to put a fine
point on it, simply fabulous.

This month Phuket.com goes shopping for pearls and not
just any pearls, but pearls from a Phuket pearl farm. We talk
with Amorn Intarrajaroen, a local pearl farmer and owner of
the Phuket Pearl Factory in Sapam about this classic staple
of jewellery. Khun Amorn is not your average boss. He loves
to get down into the muck with his workers, making sure that
his pearl oysters are good and healthy.

Khao Sok National Park is home to
the worlds oldest rainforest and its flora and fauna are even
more diverse than the Amazon Forest. At 740sq km, the park is the
largest area of virgin forest in Southern Thailand yet it is relatively
little known outside the kingdom. Just why this should be so is
one of the worlds greatest mysteries because within Khao Soks
boundaries there is a veritable cornucopia of wildlife and scenic
beauty to rival absolutely anywhere in the world. Read

Theres a pastel-like touch to
the Yacht Haven at four oclock on a sunny afternoon. The dipping
sun slants through the white of the yachts masts, creating
a pleasing optical effect splintered sunlight
so the poet had it.

drink it. You can make it into ice cream or cake. You can dip your
strawberries in it. And you can now be massaged with it. This is
just one of the innovative spa treatments which, when combined with
age-old knowledge and skills, are adding luster to Phukets
reputation as the top place in Asia for pampering and bliss, with
