La Flora Resort Patong Review
Patong Beach - Phuket0
Very new, very chic, very centrally located and right on the beach: This about sums up La Flora in Patong. La Flora has 67 modern-designed rooms, suites and villas and its design is almost cubic with two parallel lap pools flanked by wings containing seven different types of accommodation.
If you're looking for modern chic right in the heart of Patong yet at the same time directly on the beach there's a lot to be said in La Flora's favour. Located on Patong's lively Beach Road and steps away from the shopping, bars and entertainment, La Flora redefines the expression 'well located'.Read More

What's It Like?
La Flora's minimalist and attractively designed lobby looks directly out over Patong's one-way Beach Road system so things can sometimes get noisy but it's still a great place to sit and people watch as Patong, even on the quietest days, is zany and entertaining.
However, once inside the 1.2 -acre resort things immediately calm down; sea breezes waft through, rippling the two pools' surfaces, people relax poolside and the views out over Patong Bay are as soothing as ever.
Where Is It?
Directly on the beach, 200 meters away from Patong's nightlife epicentre, Bangla Road. The beach town's shopping heart, Jungceylon is a 10-minute stroll away and of course there is pretty much any amenity you desire except a ski slope within arm's reach. Talk about a well-located resort. See map below...
How Many Rooms/Villas?
In total, La Flora has 67 rooms: 30 Deluxe Pool Views, 24 Deluxe Pool Access, six Pool Villas, two Beach Pool Villas, three Sea View Suites and two Beach Grand Pool Villas.
All rooms, suites and villas are fitted out with a Samsung entertainment centre with flat screen sizes ranging from 28" to 44".
My 65sqm silently air conditioned Pool Villa has a centrally located King-size bed with a headboard that can double as workspace featuring a huge wall mirror, a bench, storage for a full set of good quality and attractive glasses, plates and cutlery along with a plug-in anti mosquito mat and hair dryer.
The deep-varnished floors are of polished timber while wall fittings and wardrobes are dark wood. A complimentary mini-bar/fridge comes as a welcome touch and the wardrobe in which it is found also features robes and slippers, vivid-orange beach towels, golf umbrellas and a safety box plus more than enough hanging and folding space.
The villa's naturally lit and cheerful bathroom has double, raised sinks either side of the entrance to the Jacuzzi bath and toilet/shower space. The sinks front full-length mirrors and both feature complimentary toiletries. Passing through the entrance one faces a large Jacuzzi tub with a rain and normal shower along with a toilet and huge fluffy towels.
This area is bright, clean and sparkling. Just outside is a plunge pool set in a rock garden with a double sun lounger and parasol. The combination of the Jacuzzi and a plunge pool proved a seductive one, along with the state-of-the-art sound system and multi-channel TV it wasn't hard to feel pampered.
The 42sqm Seaview Suite is sensational with floor-to-ceiling windows, white-tiled floors, all the facilities of the Pool Villa with an even larger TV, and all this overlooking the beach. What a fantastic location to take in the sunset. Ditto the 89sqm Beach Pool Villa – this is truly luxurious accommodation with access to both the lap pool and its private pool.
The 42sqm Deluxe Pool Access rooms are pleasant on the eye and also feature white-tiled floors with an unusual 'step up' into the pool; something that certainly puts a new spin on things.
In short, expect great facilities and fittings in each room type at La Flora – the bling-bling factor is sky high.
The enigmatically named 'The Current of the Sea' restaurant serves up Royal Thai cuisine and international dishes with a definite leaning towards seafood.
Both indoors, fan-cooled dining and al fresco poolside dining is to be had with wooden chairs and tables, fresh décor, live music played by witty musicians, and a large and modern glass-fronted wine cellar with an impressive 241 labels on the list.
Breakfast is also served here, buffet style and it is a shady nook to enjoy an afternoon snack.
La Flora is not children oriented so you won't find a Kids' Club here although there are youngsters' DVDs (complimentary) at the business centre along with a good list of other titles.
The two 50-metre lap pools with sun loungers are the centre of activity at the resort. La Flora has a soon-to-be-finished rooftop fitness room and spa and what promises to be an engaging roof deck bar.
A modern and air-conditioned library stands to the side of the lobby with a fair range of books on Thai culture and textiles while daily complimentary national and international newspapers are gratis in the lobby and restaurant.
There is a complimentary two-computer setup at the resort's small business centre plus free WiFi in all public areas.
All the rooms at La Flora have gorgeous décor, are designed with luxury in mind and are highly functional.
The location, for those who want to be in the thick of it, is ideal and but still many beachfront Patong hotels cannot deliver a fraction of what is on offer at La Flora.
Extras include a choice of scent and mood music for your room (all are non-smoking), a welcome fruit bowl, free minibar, internet, DVD use and extremely friendly service.
