In recent years Phuket has been promoting itself as a health
destination, the idea being that people can come to
the island for a holiday and medical treatment for the same
price (or less) than treatment alone at home.
Phuket.com visited the islands latest health facility,
Med Park at the Boat Lagoon and talked to Med Park CEO Poompong
Patpongpanit about this brand new operation.

Med Park consists of three units: a dental center, a skin clinic,
and a spa and detox centre. Its originator, Khun Poompong,
owns DC One, a large dental center in Bangkok. He noticed that many
of his customers came from Phuket. After many visits to Phuket,
he was convinced of the real potential of creating Med Park. After
an investment of 60 million baht and two years of construction,
the park is now open for business following its soft opening.

| "... very latest
technology..." |
|
Entering Med Park is like walking into a secret garden with an
almost Zen-like atmosphere, and the green penetrates each private
clinic or treatment room.
Khun Poompong said that he worked with a design company in Bangkok
to create what he refers to as treatment in the garden. We
want our patients to feel as relaxed as possible when they visit
a dentist, Khun Poompong explained. Each treatment room
is designed so that guests are close to and can enjoy the green
scenery. We find that it helps to reduce tension or worry on the
part of the patient, and our dentists, too, feel more relaxed and
less tense when treating customers.
The design of the building is modern, simple and very trendy. The
equipment used inside is the very latest, said Doctor Ratchda Limwattanapornchai.
Take the new X-ray machine, for example. Its entirely
digital it uses no film, which makes it more environment-friendly.
The technology also reduces the patients exposure to X-rays
by as much as 70%. Khun Poompong added, At Med Park
we have invested in the very latest technology in order to raise
medical standards to compete with any country in the world.
The park is schedule to open fully in the coming high tourism season.
