Sports Bars in Phuket generally divide into
two concepts: Those with large TV screens and
pool tables along with a darts board and those
with just large TV screens. You will be informed
ahead of time about sporting events by announcements
generally outside the bar.
If the match you were hoping to see is not
on in one, just keep on looking and you'll find
it.

Patong Beach

| Aussie
Bar on Bangla Rd's Soi Easy |
|
Champs Sports Bar in the diagonal soi leading
to Soi Kepsup from Song Roi Pee Road has Monday night
darts competitions with pool every night. Thursdays
are for organised team pool. They even organise golf
outings if you have enough time to book one.
The Aussie Bar on Soi Bangla is reliable for
atmosphere and fun. With a total of 20, yes 20 large
TV screens you're not going to miss any goals here.
Free WiFi. The main sports shown here are Aussie Rules
Rugby and Rugby itself.
Speaking of Australian sports bars Billabong
("We've got a Pommy manager but he's okay")
on Soi San Sabai is also another friendly venue to
chill out in as it is air conditioned.

| Margarita
Bar |
|
Margarita's on the corner of Soi Bangla with
Rat-U-Thit Road also shows live sports although they
sometimes compete with live music but some people
go for that sort of thing!
For those who like plush surroundings while watching
their sport, check out the cool lobby of Millennium
Resort (Beachside wing) next to Jungceylon. The
lobby bar features two large screen TV's showing different
sports channels as well as a pool table. The resort
even reserves one of its meeting rooms as a sports
venue when a major sporting event is on.
Over in Le
Meridien, the downstairs Patong Bar features
large-screen sports.

Out and about

| Michael's
Bar in Phuket Town |
|
Skippers Sports Bar and Restaurant in Royal
Phuket Marina has live music outside and sports inside,
shown on a 120" screen. Pepper's, in Tinlay
Place on the road leading into the Laguna complex,
is also a good sports-viewing location.
The Green Man in Chalong on the road leading
up Kata Hill covers all major sporting events either
on the lawn (in good weather) or in a special viewing
room in the back of the pub.
Exclusively for Arsenal fans the Kana Sutra Indian
restaurant in Phuket Town (Takuapa Road) shows
Gunners' games and the atmosphere gets decidedly partisan,
too. Almost next door, Michael's Bar is also
a popular watering hole for watching people chase
a ball. Up on Suthat Road O'Malley's Irish Pub
shows all the big games and has a great beer selection.

Kata, Karon, Nai Harn Beaches
 |
| Angus
O'Tooles in Karon Beach |
|
In Kata the ever-popular Anchor Bar is the
place to be for soccer and snooker as well as pie
and chips while in Karon, Angus O'Tooles near
the Centara
Karon is a good venue for a pint while watching
the game.
Right at the end of the island in Rawai, Freedom
Bar is the place to be if you enjoy catching a
game with a beer and friends. There's also a pool
table here and the atmosphere can get volatile yet
remain friendly during big matches.
