Erik Stocker is responsible
for putting mountain bikes in most of Phukets five star resort properties
and until recently operated Singletrak, the islands most complete store
for the cycling enthusiast.
But recently, the California
native decided to downscale the bike business and expand into building an upscale
restaurant which will feature Thai food in a more Western setting.
"I decided on a Thai
food menu as most people fly to Phuket from around the world, in part to eat
Thai food. So why should I give them something else?" Erik explained, "also
I can find excellent cooks and recipes locally and its easier to source
the ingredients."
Erik is building an extensive
bar in his new restaurant which will give his guests a place to relax and enjoy
a few drinks on their way to or from Laguna Phuket.
He hasnt decided
on a new name for his restaurant but workmen are busy night and day preparing
for an opening in a few weeks.
Casuarina
Hut re-opens
Most
visitors to Phuket are eager to sample the seafood which is caught daily from
the Andaman Sea. For guests of the five Laguna Phuket resorts, fresh seafood
prepared to suit every taste is now available at the reopened Casuarina Hut
at the beachfront of the Dusit Laguna Resort.
"We offer a treasure
of seafood prepared especially for you at the market cost with a little added
cooking charge," explained Executive Chef Josef Bender, "and we will
feature special Happy Hour drinks from 5 6 pm and from 10 11 pm
daily with steel band music playing in the background."
The Dusit Laguna Resort
will celebrate its 11th birthday on 25 November. The resort
was the first of the Laguna Phuket resorts to open and has proven to be a consistent
popular home for return guests to the island. For more information about the
Casuarina Hut, contact Claude Rath, F & B Manager at 324 321, extension
