Cool Irish Pub in Karon Beach

Angus O’ Tool’s Irish Bar & Restaurant is a popular pub located on Soi Islandia (aka Soi Centara) in the heart of Karon Centre. Opened in 2003, and under Irish management, Angus O’ Tool’s features a genuine Irish pub décor and furnishing some 10,000km from Dublin. Its popularity is no accident as everything here has been thought through to offer the best in matter of quality and service.

O’ Tool’s has great international food with pub grub favourites, a great choice of draught beers (the biggest selection in Karon Beach as proclaimed by the establishment) and ciders, and broadcasts the most important sport events on a large roll-down screen, and live music every Fridays from 21:15 onward. Angus O’ Tool’s Irish Bar is a home away from home for any Celtic, Hibernian, Gaelic, and anyone hailing from the ‘old sod’.

  • Angus O’ Tool’s Irish Bar & Restaurant faces Centara Karon Resort at the back of Soi Islandia. The establishment occupies the corner of a contemporary-style building which hosts four rooms for rent (the pub is also a guesthouse). The inside part of the pub is, as said, quite typical: reddish dark-wood tables and bar counter, Irish-green squab cushions, dark green beams and pillars, the place is neat and clean without much originality but still interesting for Asian punters who never visited Ireland.

In front of the pub, white plastic tables and chairs create a cool place for those who wish to dine al fresco; the outside dining option is popular when there’s no major sport event broadcast inside. Every Fridays, ‘The Bangkok Travelers’ - an experienced Thai trio – takes the stage and rocks the pub until late with a good choice of rock/blues/pub classics.

As for cuisine, Angus O’ Tool’s can satisfy the most demanding customers. The menu is not that long but features many pub crawlers’ favourites: all-day breakfast (‘Big Bhoyo’ 290 baht), Irish stew (290 baht), ploughman’s lunch (240 baht), bangers & mash with peas & gravy (250 baht), to name a few. There is also a choice of international and Thai delicacies such as pizza (280 baht), chicken satay (120 baht), salads (from 130 to 190 baht), and grilled red snapper served with asparagus, aubergine and tomato & pesto sauce (290 baht).

Draught ales, beers and ciders are prominent on the establishment’s drink list: Guinness Stout (120/230 baht for 25/50cl), Kilkenny Bitter (120/230 baht for 25/50cl), Fosters (80/150 baht for 25/50cl), Heineken (80/150 baht for 25/50cl), Greene King IPA (120/230 baht for 25/50cl), and Magners Cider (120/230 baht for 25/50cl) are the six draught beers on offer; besides, nine other beers and six other ciders are available in bottles. The usual suspects are also here when it comes to spirits and soft drinks. A wine list is also available on request.
