@Beach Bar & Restaurant
Beachfront Dining in Kata Beach0
@Beach Bar & Restaurant presents a tasty range of international dishes in a great beachfront location at the southern end of Kata Beach. As one of the restaurants for the Kata Beach Resort and Spa, it has an elegant style and provides the same four-star quality you can expect from the rest of the hotel.
The extremely popular Kata Beach has a very limited number of places to eat and drink right by the sand and not even that many on the other side of Beach Road. @Beach is, as the name suggests, right at the beach. After the cosy bar setting you enter through, you find a sophisticated restaurant around a central swimming pool, with the beach a step (and, unfortunately, also a couple of metres sheer drop) away.

The drinks menu contains a small selection of signature cocktails for 270 baht, as well as a broader range of the usual suspects for 250 baht, all of which are best enjoyed along with the uninterrupted view across the beach and out to the western horizon as the sun sinks into it. We tried the Southern Delight, which mysteriously lists the ingredients as “our barman’s secret!!!” It is a fresh, fruity, suspiciously Mai Tai-like choice, and certainly recommendable.
The collection of wines, spirits, liqueurs and aperitifs is extensive and priced around 200 baht each, while the list of beers is limited to just three choices (starting at 140 baht), which tells you a lot about the sort of mood they are trying to create at @Beach Bar & Restaurant. The sophisticated atmosphere is continued on the food menu, where even the common Thai dishes are elegantly presented.
Among the options are sushi, oysters, lobster, mussels, salads, steaks and soups. There is a page of chef’s recommendations, which include German-style pork leg (295 baht), tender lamb shank (650 baht) and duck leg in raspberry sauce (370 baht).
Noticing the stone pizza oven in its own little building at the far end of @Beach Bar & Restaurant, we turn to that page in the menu, where we are presented with 16 options, mostly of quite typical and traditional toppings and ranging in price from 230 to 330 baht. The Napoletana - with tomato, mozzarella, anchovies and oregano (260 baht) – comes on a large, crispy base. It is tasty and well-prepared, being neither soggily soft nor painfully crisp. Without being overloaded with toppings it has a fulsome flavour.
Its location and design makes @Beach Bar & Restaurant a great place to eat while you escape the heat of the day and also to enjoy the sunset view. Its more modest vibe, particularly with the lively Surf House Phuket just over the road, makes it a less attractive nightspot, but it makes up for it by providing a broad menu of well-prepared western favourites.
