Hog Breath Restaurant at Patong Promenade is permanently closed
Hog’s Breath is a chain of some 80 steakhouse restaurants in Australia with several more in Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. This is the ideal environment for families to enjoy wholesome and tasty meals at reasonable prices.
Straddling the top floor of Patong Promenade – a newly built shopping complex on Patong’s Soi Bangla – the Phuket branch of Hog’s Breath enjoys upper-floor breezes on its nine-table terrace and also offers an air-conditioned interior with eating booths and tables, as well as a bar. The tables are well spaced apart, and there’s no crowding or the impression of being cooped in.

Décor is kept pleasingly simple; the blue and yellow interior is distinctly reminiscent of an American diner with wooden floors, a succession of Australian car license plates lining the walls, humorous framed ad posters, children’s coloured-in printed pages, and a colourful bar, ‘The Hog’s Breath Saloon’.
Piped-in music comprises acoustic versions of international hits and the exterior faux water hyacinth seating is a nice touch. There’s nothing about Hog’s Breath that takes itself too seriously and dining here is relaxed fun.
The menu is, as to be expected, primarily meat based, with quality steaks galore but if you’re looking for a more vegetable-based option try the avocado and mushroom salad or perhaps the classic Caesar salad – both come in generous portions enough to share.
Main dishes are a carnivore’s delight with imported Aussie steaks such as char-grilled natural prime rib steak with a choice of two sizes and fresh vegetables along with mashed potatoes or fries. The burgers are just as promising with large portions and juicy sauces, crispy chicken burger being a stand out, along with the cheeseburger in paradise.
The children’s menu features five choices (although the mixed vegetable option is slightly optimistic) and kids’ dishes come with free Coke, Sprite or lemon iced tea and two scoops of ice cream for dessert (for children under 12 years old). As for drinks, there’s a good selection of beers, juices, cocktails and a very palatable house red.
Hog’s Breath is ideal for those wanting to dine downtown Patong away from the crowds. Up above it all, you’ll certainly get an earful of Soi Bangla’s chaotic rhythm – especially after eight o’clock at night – but three floors up at Hog’s Breath you’ll be well away from the chaos and crush of the street.
For a wide-ranging menu that covers culinary ground from Mexico to Melbourne, Hog’s Breath Café Saloon & Grill is centrally located, easy to find and extremely family friendly.
