Home Kitchen, Bar & Bed is the new project of Chef Daniel Isberg at the northern part of Patong Bay. Home Kitchen’s arty design comes from the sparkling creative brain of another talented Phuket character – Australian industrial artist John Underwood – who is famous for recycling and transforming old stuff into splendid pieces of art. Set in a two-storey building with the second floor shaped as an upside-down boat’s hull opened to the sea, the venue is highly original and fashionable; a perfect place for a stylish sundowner before a fine dinner prepared by internationally recognized head chef.

Home Kitchen, Bar & Bed has excelled in the unconventionality of its décor. The place literally seems out of time, and each element and detail deserves to be looked at: a mannequin converted into a lamp, bar stools made of banister parts, wrought iron sculptures, dozens of variegated coloured cushions. It's clear John Underwood’s imagination has no limit and his style is pretty recognizable; he designed the following venues in Phuket (amongst others): Indigo Pearl Phuket, Underwood Art Factory, and Barefoot Beach Shack.
Home Kitchen’s atmosphere is in line with its astonishing décor: at the same time classy yet laid-back, stylish yet relaxed. A DJ standing in a booth set near the entrance distils in-vogue soft beats which enliven the place in a very fashionable way, adding to the ambiance.
Chef Daniel Isberg is a man aiming at perfection; his motto, “to be Chef is not a job, it is a lifestyle”, is ideally rendered at Home Kitchen which gives him the perfect setting to expose his gastronomical talents. Apart from his – by now famous - weekly ‘Chef Dinner’ (four courses at 950 baht - starts at 19:00 every Tuesday, all year round – reservation mandatory), he prepared a menu for Home Kitchen that should be able to satisfy all Epicureans visiting Phuket: from foie gras (terrine) tacos with pear and mint chutney, rocket and balsamic/vanilla reduction at 455 baht, to king scallop carpaccio with spicy ginger/coriander dressing, cucumber sorbet and seaweed salad at 375 baht, to lemon & vanilla risotto with pan seared tiger prawns at 495 baht to anchovy & rosemary marinated lamb tenderloin with sun choke cream, sautéed farmers vegetables, café de Paris butter and potato/truffle wedges at 750 baht, the choice and quality of the dishes is simply outstanding.
A talented French mixologist, Thomas Alexandre, works in partnership with Daniel on the ‘liquid side’ of Home Kitchen. He created special cocktails for the occasion, blending in style drinks poetically named Autumn Martini (Zubrowka Bison vodka, fresh passion fruit, apple juice, passion syrup shaken with foam), Home Strawberry & Passion Mojito (a mix of fresh strawberries and passion fruits muddled with mint, lime, and Havana anejo) and Apricot Cosmo (the ladies favourite: vodka stirred with apricot jam, topped with cranberry juice, lime juice, and orange bitters) to name just a few. These Home Cocktails are charged 270 baht.
