First thing you will notice about Holiday Inn Phuket is the how many beautifully maintained pools there are: two huge communal pools (one designed for families, the other for adults) are found at either end of the resort, with a private free-form pool exclusively for the Busakorn-type room guests and a secluded children’s paddling pool. There are elephant sculptures and fountains dotted around pumping jets of water into the air and plenty of sunbeds for all guests.
If you are staying in Phuket, you want to be as close to the beach as possible. Here, all you have is Patong Beach Road to cross before your toes are in the sand.
The kid’s club at Holiday Inn Phuket is one of the finest on the island, with indoor and outdoor activities scheduled daily from 10:00 until 20:00. The staff are multi-lingual and prepare programs especially for children aged 5 to 10. Activities include Thai dancing, a treasure hunt and sand art.
Sam’s Steak and Grill is widely considered the finest steakhouse in Patong and often on the whole of Phuket. Aussie and US beef cuts include filet mignon, USDA choice rib eye, and a range of seafood offerings to ensure there is something for everyone. Of course, we shouldn’t forget the two other fabulous restaurants: Charm Thai for spicy curries and zesty salads, and Terrazzo for classic Italian dishes with views of the ocean.
The Holiday Inn is a huge resort in the very centre of Patong, yet as soon as you enter back into the hotel, it is sheltered from the festivities outside with a calm and welcoming ambiance that could be a million miles away.
The Busakorn Wing is like a hotel within a hotel, with its own entrance, reception and swimming pool. Rooms here are highly styled in a modern Thai design, with teak floors, large balconies and tropical gardens surrounding the rooms and villas. These guestrooms offer a lot more space and comfort, while still offering guests the full range of facilities available at Holiday Inn Resort Phuket. Plus, they stock your minibar with complimentary goodies every day!
It’s not only children who get a free club to join. If you get a little restless lounging in the sun, why not take advantage of the painting classes, fruit carving, Thai boxing training or orphan visits arranged especially by the hotel. Most activities are free, although trips to the Trick Eye Museum and mini golf course do have an entrance fee.
Tea Tree Spa ticks all the boxes for a top level hotel spa. But what will surprise most guests is the great value prices when compared to other popular resorts in Phuket. Packages range from 30 minute foot massages, to aloe sun balm wraps if you’ve spent too much time in the sun, right up to a 510 minute series of treatments that are split over 5 days, so every day can include a little pampering.
The design of the hotel is so well thought out that large families and couples having a romantic time can all enjoy the resort and find the perfect ambiance. The different swimming pools certainly are a main factor, but it’s also down to the different room types, well-manicured gardens and different restaurants.
Speaking excellent English and wearing natural, easy-going smiles, the staff are noticeably focused on customer service here and it will come as no surprise that this is a result of the long service of many of the staff. In fact, a number of the team have been working at this hotel since it opened 27 years ago!
