  • Nui Beach - Phuket

    Discover Nui Bay Member Club

    0

Nui Beach is currently closed to the public

Nui Beach is one of the most beautiful ‘secret beaches’ in Phuket. Renamed Nui Bay Member Club after the company that takes care of it, this 120m strip of sand dotted with large boulders is located roughly four kilometres through the jungle after Kata-Karon Viewpoint, on the road linking Kata and Nai Harn beaches.

Nui Beach is really a tropical dream destination come true: perfectly maintained and cleaned up by the staff of Nui Bay Member Club, it features a bar/restaurant, as well as many activities – snorkelling, beach volley, sea kayaking, fly boarding, donut boating, massage, sauna, and even scuba diving (it must be arranged beforehand though). The access to Nui Beach, however does not come for free. It will cost you 350 baht (500 baht with transfer included) to enjoy a great day at this lovely remote sandy shore. Please note that there’s no entrance fee for children below 12 years old.

Nui Bay Member Club put a lot of effort into easing the access to the beach. At the end of the nineties, the trail to get there was one metre wide and sprinkled with tree roots and rocks, making it difficult to traverse with a moped. Nowadays, the slope is as steep as before, but the small path has become as wide as a road. It is not tarred (yet), though. So, if you are not confident in your driving skill, you’d better take the pickup truck waiting at the parking located at the top of the hill, which will take you down safely to this unique beach.

  • The close surroundings of Nui Beach offer different levels and bamboo-and-shack buildings. Upon arrival, you have to pay your ticket at the reception, where you will receive an umbrella, a beach mat, and a towel. On the way down to the beach, you pass through the outdoor dining area, set under coconut trees, before reaching the beach bar as well as all the leisure equipment. This is displayed at the foot of an elevated area, which features a second bar and a bamboo platform overlooking Nui Bay.

Most the activities available at Nui Beach are not included in the daily membership fee. Rental of snorkelling equipment is 250 baht, a sea kayak is 300 baht, fly boarding is charged 300 baht per 15 minutes, donut boating is 400 baht per person per 15 minutes, and massage (any type – foot, oil, Thai) is 600 baht per hour. A natural stream from the mountain allows visitors to enjoy refreshing showers all through the day.

Nui Bay Member Club restaurant & bar has a short menu hosting classic Thai and international dishes such as fried rice and fried noodles (with seafood, prawns, squid, chicken, or pork) at 250 baht; sandwiches (ham, cheese, tuna, smoked bacon) at 250 baht; tropical fruits – single at 100 baht, double at 150 baht, and mix at 250 baht; and special dishes like prawns garlic and pepper at 450 baht, sweet and sour fish at 550 baht, and more. Despite the remoteness and simplicity of the place, the food is of excellent quality and taste. The drink-list hosts the usual suspects: soft drinks at 80 baht, beers at 120 baht, spirits at 150 baht, and wine at 200 baht per glass.

Summing up, Nui Beach (Nui Bay Member Club) is just the right place if you want to escape the crowds and spend a day in a postcard-like environment. The fact that Nui Beach is run by a private company may not be in tune with the actual government policy, but tourists visiting this lovely beach do not mind if it’s legal or not.
