Patong Go-Kart Speedway is a fun and rip-roaring activity for the whole family located at the feet of Patong Hill’s Kathu side. The race track is 750m long and has a series of sharp curves, smooth bends, and a long straight start/finish lane allowing acceleration.
The main building with its front desk, bar-restaurant and garage is situated in the centre of the track and it’s a refreshingly cool area to watch the karts racing around. Opened in 1991 and managed by a German national, it is handled by a professional and dedicated Thai team. Anyone with a passion for motor racing should definitely check out this place.
The speedway has four types of kart: 140cc kid’s karts (which can reach 40kmh), 200cc standard karts (which can reach 70kmh), 270cc two-seater karts (up to 60 kmh - if your children are too young to drive, they still can be a passenger), and 400cc race karts (which can reach a beefy 110kmh!)
Security is the first concern at Patong Go-Kart Speedway, and everything is organized to assure maximum safety. Staff members are vigilant and explain clearly what and what not to do and the race track is in excellent shape – wide enough with a clear view of what’s coming next. Red and white tyres on either side of the track allow you to stop your machine in a safe manner in case you miss a curve.
A bar-restaurant is located right next to the depart lane and sells soft drinks, beer as well as snacks such as hot dogs and French fries. The tables have a 180-degree view on the track, so people who do not want to drive can still have fun watching people racing. An on-site shop also has some merchandising for sale such as T-shirts and baseball caps.
Patong Go-Kart Speedway organizes fun events for you on request: if you have a party of five people minimum, you can participate in a Mini Grand Prix with race practice and a final, lots of excitement for sure. Corporate and team building events can also be tailored to fit your needs if you wish to have fun with your employees. They will feel like participating in a F1 Grand Prix, with trophies for the first three drivers and champagne to spray for the winner.
Another cool activity belonging to the same company is situated right next to the kart racing track: the Off-road Fun Park. Here you can drive a buggy on a 600m off-road track, jumping and bouncing over the humps, eating dust from the buggy in front of you, splashing through puddles (after rain), in two words: having fun! Note that Kart/Buggy packages are available.
To summarise; Patong Go-Kart Speedway is a great place to spend some good times with friends and family. Nevertheless, keep in mind that any damage to the karts is your responsibility, so don’t get carried away too far with the excitement.
