Patong Minigolf is a novel and creative way to have some fun in the sun (or even at night). Located on the roof of Banana Walk on Patong’s Beach Road, it features 18 challenging holes and a range of simple but highly-appreciated facilities to give you some great laughs. It is a unique and family-friendly activity in the popular resort town, offering 360-degree views and a well-thought-out, high-quality course, making it good value for money and an entertaining change from lying on the beach.
The course dispenses with the cliché obstacles like giant windmills and slides, instead staying true to its name. Patong Minigolf is, quite literally, a miniaturised golf course, with real sand-filled bunkers, water hazards, proper putters, caddies to recover stray (and real) balls, and even a ‘19th hole’ - the Trillion Beach Lounge, which serves a range of beverages alongside simple Thai dishes and popular snack food. Fortunately, the crocodiles in the streams of double-filtered water are fake.
Asia's first rooftop mini-golf course gives great views of the surrounding city and hills, as well as Patong Beach from certain holes (particularly the 19th). Using artificial grass over carefully designed concrete tracks, the ball behaves pretty similarly to how it would on a real putting green. The challenge - and there is plenty of it - comes from the rocks, sand traps, steep banked curves, dips, inclines and a few ramps over water. A par round will take 43 shots and, at the time of writing, no one has yet hit it!
One go around the 1,360 sqm Patong Minigolf course takes an average player about an hour and currently costs adults 500 baht and children 350 baht each. Families of four (which can be any configuration of adults and children, so long as it still adds up to four) can play for 1,500 baht. To find the first tee, just follow the arrows stuck on the floor around Banana Walk up to the very top floor.
