Skye Lake Club is now permanently closed.
Skye Lake Club Phuket is a beautiful setting to enjoy a sophisticated dining and lounge experience in Bangtao. Effectively a beach club away from the beach, come for the glow of the sunset and the lights of the nearby restaurants and resorts reflected on the lake, but stay for the easy-listening music, great international cuisine, lively signature cocktails and a fantastic convivial atmosphere.
Located just behind Boat Avenue, not far from the Laguna resorts which make Bangtao such a popular beach, Skye has a classy indoor dining area and a more relaxed outdoor area. Both have choices of tables or sofas, allowing you to either enjoy a tasty meal or relax with friends and a few drinks. There are also large bars and flat-screen TVs in both spaces, as well as speakers so that you can hear the smooth jazz and chill-out tunes played by the resident live DJ.

The menu at Skye Lake Club Phuket features a lot of international favourites, including some Thai dishes, but the majority of the choice is Italian, particularly pastas and pizzas. The quality is very high, with great ingredients prepared professionally. We tried the signature Skye Lake pizza (360 baht), which features Parma ham, chorizo, Milao salami, rocket salad and parmesan cheese. It creates quite a meaty dish which, at about 30 cm across, is easily enough to feed two or three people.
The club’s owner – Able – regularly makes the rounds to chat to her guests and recommends the slow-cooked lamb shank (790 baht), saying that it is the most popular item on the menu. It’s not hard to see why, either. Prepared for 12 hours, the meat is extremely tender, to the point that it is almost softer than the mashed potato it is served with. The process really amplifies the flavour, which is added to by the robust stew to make a remarkably tasty dish.
There’s a buy-one-get-one-free happy hour at Skye Lake Club Phuket, running from 15:00 to 18:00 and applying to local beers (120 baht each) and cocktails (240 baht for classic recipes, 260 baht for signature mixes). The Skye Lake Club cocktail – containing vodka, blue curacao, a signature sugar syrup and lychee – is a particularly moreish option, with a cool and lightly fruity flavour. There’s also an impressive selection of old and new world wine labels and champagnes available.
Skye Lake Club Phuket is literally right on the lake, so the main entrance is down a short flight of wide steps and away from the road. This manages to give it an air of exclusivity without it being actually remote. Indeed, the start of the Thursday night market which occupies Lagoon Road each week is no more than a dozen steps away from the entrance. While the sunset is certainly something to behold, the place really fills up from about 19:30 onwards, making booking ahead advisable.
