Popular Nightclub Near Bangla Road in Patong

Tai Pan Phuket combines everything (in)famous about Phuket’s Bangla Road, resulting in a lively all-in-one venue in the centre of all the action. With live music from 21:45 to midnight and a feel-good club vibe created by in-house DJs later on, this old-time favourite guarantees fun night out in Patong.

Calling themselves FBI (Finest Bar In) Thailand, Tai Pan Phuket attracts a pretty mixed crowd, including young and old party animals, tourists, expats and a few locals. The setup inside lends itself more towards comfort than hardcore partying, with much of the floor space taken by tables and bar stools. In front of the stage is an under-lit dance floor which, along with the large disco balls and the faux fires on the bars, giving the place an almost Saturday Night Fever feel.

  • This retro feeling is amplified when the DJ puts on the Macarena, but they combine old and new dance favourites to appeal to a wide audience. The spinners are not particularly big-name talents, but they are nonetheless eminently skilled and keep the floor busy throughout their set, as does the dance show up on stage. Before midnight, the live musicians playing classic pop and rock have a similar effect.

With no entry fee (and two vouchers for free shots provided by the astute but courteous bouncers at the two entrances), Tai Pan Phuket gets busy quickly and stays that way through the night. The floor is patrolled by many waitresses in blue polo shirts and coyote dancers in skimpy black outfits. There are also several security guards keeping watch, making it both a fun and safe place to party.

Sadly, drinks prices are on the nightclub scale instead of the beer bar scale. A local beer costs 160 baht while a cocktail is 280 baht. Having some similarities with coyote bars and go-go bars, the menu includes the price for lady drinks – 260 baht. On the other hand, Happy Hour runs from 20:30 to 22:00 and the selection of beverages available is quite impressive, including Corona (220 baht), Magners cider (220 baht) and premium drinks including Johnny Walker Blue Label (18,500 baht per bottle).

The fun and games, lively atmosphere and recognisable tunes make getting up and dancing at Tai Pan Phuket hard to resist. With the pretentiousness and exclusivity of some of Bangla Road’s other nightclubs stripped away, there remains only an approachable party experience which is great for those wanting a light-hearted night out.
