Two Chefs is a well-known brand name restaurant in Phuket. With two branches in Kata, an outlet in Karon and a recently opened bistro in Kamala this restaurant group strikes a popular chord with visitors looking for quality food, good service, and fast delivery. It’s unlikely that you’ll see any Two Chefs branch quiet past 19:00 as its popularity and reputation have gone way before it.
Two Chefs in central Kata overlooks the busy Beach Road as it enters Kata from Karon Beach. This two-storey branch seats 110 diners, has black stone tiled floors and a black theme throughout offset by colourful pictures and clever lighting.

There is a bar on both fan-cooled floors and punters arriving early evening generally prefer to sit upstairs and watch the goings on below. The menu at Two Chefs probably breaks some sort of linguistic record as there are at least 10 language selections and while it used to feature mostly Swedish dishes (the restaurant is Swedish owned) nowadays the choice is broader and more international plus, in the good tradition of established restaurants, there are specials boards on the walls informing diners what’s hot that particular day.
Perhaps the greatest compliment that diners can pay to a restaurant is to return regularly and in this department Two Chefs shines, with holidaying families frequently returning throughout their stay in Phuket. Having said all this, Two Chefs is not a fine-dining establishment; a lot of the food is prepared or semi-prepared beforehand and this is why you can order a delicious forest mushroom soup (195 baht) and it’ll be on your table within minutes, as will a piquant plate of macho nachos (295 baht) to say nothing of a toast ‘skagen’ – juicy prawns in mayonnaise, dill, and lemon (195 baht).
The kitchen team does a good job in churning delicious and filling fare out to a busy house on a nightly basis and dishes such as bouillabaisse (495) filled to the brim with salmon red snapper and prawns in a stew flavoured by saffron and brandy are not to be argued with when it comes to satisfying and value-for-money cuisine.
On an amusing note, a duo of Filipina girls makes the rounds each night on their motorbike, playing at the Two Chefs branches in Kata and Karon, although it’d be a stretch to expect them in the Kamala branch…
Two Chefs is a Phuket success story and it’s clear that a lot of hard work has gone and is going into each of its branches. Give it a try if you’re after dependable and family-friendly service and cuisine with average tourist prices.
