Xana Beach Club in Phuket

One Class Act on Bangtao Beach

Set beachside in the grounds of Angsana Laguna Phuket, Xana has a classical west-coast beach club look. Featuring white fittings throughout with a central 35-metre pool and Asia’s longest swim-up bar, Xana enjoys a dreamlike location on Bangtao Beach.

The first thing one notices about this large setup is the quality sound system. Wherever you are; poolside, in the 50-cover restaurant, at the bar or lounging in the garden, you’ll be regaled by Café del Mar relaxed tunes (the music ups the ante at nighttime with a resident DJ).

Décor-wise, Xana is immaculately white, with white trimmings, large canvas awnings over the bar, grey hyacinth furniture in the eating area and four white ‘cabanas’ or salas dotted around the area that can be booked in advance. If you’re not installed at a cabana there are sun-loungers with either red or white parasols. The bar area continues this colour scheme that results in a pleasingly light touch to the place while wait staff members sport red-and-white relaxed beach-style uniforms.

Essentially, Xana offers a seamless day-into-night beach club experience with lunch and segueing to dinner and late-night cocktails. It’s hard to imagine a more urbane and sophisticated beachside environment and the people behind this are experts at what they do.

Nice touches are a packed picnic basket if you avail yourself of a cabana, an active underwater colour scheme at night in the swimming pool, excellent non-slip flooring throughout, multiple brightly lit walk-through showers (kids love these), Wi-Fi, late-night swimming in the pool and beach guards, multipurpose distinct areas, an upstairs VIP bar and lounge, a resident DJ and flown-in big-name DJs on a monthly basis, well-organised and original regular parties and a great menu and drinks selection.

Italian Executive Chef Mirko Cappa has devised Mediterranean-influenced lunch and dinner menus. Especially good is the tuna carpaccio with barbecued vegetables and the outrageous Xana ‘no rules’ burger which features a 240-gram wagyu burger and a host of optional toppings.

Drinks-wise all cocktails feature local ingredients and are certainly original; ever tried a grapefruit-and-vodka concoction with the glass rim rubbed in chili? Order a Xana Vibe and you’ll get to try this out.

As for the music, the Xana music team plays a well-chosen mix of down tempo, lounge, chill out, house and deep house, all with a touch of funk, soul and disco. Big-name DJs playing Xana are, amongst others, Paul Harris of Grammy award-winning British music trio Dirty Vegas, Paul Oakenfold and Thailand's very own DJ Nakadia.

In sort, Xana is one class act and expertly run. No compromises are made in presentation, décor, F&B, safety and the result is the most professionally run beach club in Phuket.
