PIWC - Phuket International Women's Club

A social network, supporting the international women of Phuket, whilst lending a helping hand to Phuket's needy children.

The Phuket International Women's club was formed in 1989 and has been growing ever since. Today, the PIWC is a non-profit organization promoting friendship amongst women of all nationalities, including offering support and information to newcomers and offering a wide range of activities and social events for our members. The PIWC is also very active in the sponsorship of education for children and have helped, or are currently helping more than 250 children financially with their education from Kindergarten up to University.

PIWC membership has increased significantly since its inception and are proud to say we currently have more than 150 members. Membership is open to anyone and any time. All effort donated by members is greatly needed and appreciated. Memberships dues are held for scholarships as are any financial contributions made. A monthly committee meeting ensures the funds are dispensed in an appropriate and unanimously agreed upon basis.

Many students' lives are profoundly improved by our scholarships and we are very proud of our success stories. We are so pleased to have given students the opportunities to train as graphic artists, communications experts, primary and secondary graduates and are currently supporting trainee medical doctors and nurses. In Dec 2004 it is now well know that the tsunami greatly affected the people of Thailand in many ways and many families have lost family members, businesses and customers. The reduction in tourism has added to the slow recovery and many family’s can still not afford education for their children. We have assisted many in serious circumstances since Dec 2004 but in order to continue our work we will need your ongoing assistance.
