Phuket Marina Services
Boat Lagoon, Phuket Yacht Haven, Royal Phuket Marina
Phuket Boat LagoonSapam Bay, VHF Channel
71 The Boat Lagoon was Phuket's first marina complex. It has been fully operational since 1994. This circular, 168-berth lagoon was originally a tidal flat at the head of a shallow, meandering 2-mile creek, Klong Tha Rua. It is now surrounded by a canal complex of condominiums, a hotel, serviced apartments and restaurants, shops and offices. Short and long term accommodation is available overlooking the marina. Services in the lagoon are comparable with marina services elsewhere in the world: a fuel dock, three travel lifts up to 60 tons, a large concrete work area and hardstand for up to 80 vessels, dry stack storage for 20 speedboats, 168 wet berths with power and water, a concrete boat ramp, hot showers and changing room facilities; and many yacht service companies with on-site management. All vessel services are quoted on a per-foot basis. The Yacht HavenLaem Phrao, VHF Channel 68 Located at Laem Phrao, east of the bridge at the head of the channel, is The Yacht Haven Marina, completed in 1997 with 150 berths for vessels up to 60 metres. Yacht Haven can be accessed from the east on all tides, though deep draft vessels need to take additional care to follow the channel during lows. A great advantage of the Yacht Haven is its proximity to Phang Nga Bay, the major all-year yachting playground for Phuket. Accessibility to the nearby international airport is an advantage for those wishing to berth yachts here and fly in for holidays or weekends. Laem Phrao is a safe year-round anchorage with The Yacht Haven Marina providing berthing for those yachts looking for alongside facilities. Berthing is available for vessels up to 60 metres on the outer berths with depths of 4 - 5 meters and the minimum depthin the smaller berths is 2 metres at LAT. On shore is the Haven Restaurant and Bar, showers, lockers and toilet facilities. The Yacht Haven also offers fuel, water and provisioning services. Royal Phuket MarinaSapam Bay Phuket, Royal Phuket Marina is part of a new US$150 million luxury lifestyle marina community on the paradise islands eastern seaboard in Phang Nga Bay. With 350 berths and 400 luxury villas, penthouses and condominiums, it is also the islands only marina with a boat lock, non-tidal deepwater basin and private moorings on the doorstep of residences. The marina can accommodate vessels of up to 35 metres. The marina is being built in two phases. Phase 1, the 31,000 sq metre outer marina, comprises 85 wet berths, 120 dry berths, complete with a 60-tonne travel hoist and hardstand for maintenance, for both public moorings; private berths for homeowners; and a select group of commercial operators. The marina is protected from both wind and waves, with 24-hour surveillance. Phase 2, the inner marina, is for exclusive use of private marina residents, with a sophisticated lock system for access. The state-of-art marina has just been awarded the prestigious Five Gold Anchorby the Yacht Harbour Association, an arm of the British Marine Federation. Five Gold Anchors is the highest of three honours a marina can earn in The Gold Anchor Award Scheme, which was established to improve the standard of facilities for boat owners worldwide and indicates the level of available facilities. Royal Phuket Marina is one of only two marinas in Asia to rank in the top category. |
