The Awards

Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket has won the following awards:

 2000 AWARDS  

- "Green Leaf Award" by the Board of Environmental Promotion of Tourism Activities to acknowledge the resort's outstanding achievements in developing and implementing a successful environment conservation practice.

- Sep 2000 - StarAid Award honored by Phuket's Governor to mark the great achievement on charity fund raising to support the children with HIV in Phuket. The total funds raised in 1999 and 2000 reached over US$ 45,000.

- Oct 2000 - "Top 5 Leading Asia Pacific Resorts & Hotels" in 2000. The "Top 5 Leading Asia Pacific Resorts & Hotels" Travel Award 2000 by Business Traveller Asia Pacific, aims to recognize and honor leading hotels for their high levels of service and commitment. The hotel was voted for two consecutive years in 1999 and 2000 by over 700 bona fide subscribers of Business Traveller, who are the frequent business travelers stayed an averaged of 59 hotel room nights in Asia-Pacific hotels during the pass 12 month in 1999 and 2000. The poll was conducted by Market Behaviors LTO and was only open to consumers.

- Oct 2000 - First Place Winner of MLA Black Box Culinary Award 2000 held in Bangkok on October 12th -13th 2000 and the event is sponsored by Meat Australia to encourage young professionals under the age of 30 years culinarians to display their skills in culinary competition environment. The winner was judged by the panel of judges representing 7 nationals.

 1999 AWARDS  

- "Top 5 Leading Asia Pacific Resorts & Hotels Award" by Business Traveller Asia Pacific, selected based on the number of votes from the subscribers of Business Traveller who stayed at the property within the past year. Each voter gave an accurate reflection of his or her most recent stay. The voters were business travellers who averaged 59 hotel room nights and 30 international air trips during 1998. The poll was conducted by Market Behaviors LTD and was only open to consumers.

- 'Best Meeting Venue (Resort)' in the Gold Awards by Meeting & Conventions, Asia/Pacific, The selection of the winners for the "Best Performance" is based on the readers votes and nominations by the M&C editorial and publishing team of Venture Asia, who evaluated the hotel based on the following criteria: quality of product, standard of service, level of marketing and professionalism, and other attributes, such as creativity and dedication.

- First place winner of "Phuket Culinary Award by Phuket Chefs' Association in Phuket on 24th till 26th October 1999. The winner was voted by a team of professional chefs from Phuket and Europe and based on the best performance on the following, Fruit and Vegetable Carving Display, Plate of Main Course, Cold Cut Platter, Plate of Dessert and Free Style Ice Carving.

- First place winner of "Thailand Best Culinary 1999 Award" organized by Thailand Chefs' Association and Wacs at Bangkok Queen Sirikit convention hall on 27 and 28th October 1999. The winner was voted by a panel of committee consists of international distinguished professional chefs from Europe and Thailand and based on the best performances on the following, Most Outstanding Establishment Award, Thai Dessert Display, Ice Carving, Thai Mystery Basket Cooking and Ice Carving.

 1998 AWARDS  

- Fourth Place winner in the Conde Nast Traveler Gold list of Thailand's top 10 hotels - the first of only two Phuket hotels so honoured.

- "The Green Leaf' award" by Board of Environmental Promotion of Tourism, Thailand, voted by the panel of committee from the Board of Environment Promotion of Tourism based on the performance of the hotel on the environment conservation, protection of the environment and improvement of the environmental standard in the hotel in accordance with the needs of customers using development of technological efficiency.

- "Best of the Best award" by Tourism Asia, voted by a panel of leading tour operators worldwide based on the hotel's professionalism in marketing, excellence in management, popular with clients and least complaints.

 1992 AWARDS  

- Thai Wah group, the owning company of Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket received a Top International Conservation Award from the International Hotel Association (IHA). The IHA also paid tribute to the "Laguna" resort for being the "Most Outstanding Example " of environmental conservation of the hotel development.

- "Second-Best Resort Hotel World Wide 1997" named by Business Travellers.
